So a friend of mine wants me to..
Play bass in his band, the only problem right now is that I DON"T have a bass and also I live in Florida at the moment he is in washington. But I need advice on what type of bass would be a good enxpensive option for myself to first start honing my bass skills on then to eventually jam with him and the rest of his band maybe do shows?
Like what kind of bass amp and Bass?

I don't play yet, either, but I've been looking at some of the basses on the Rondo site. I've found mostly good reviews.

Rondo man, Brice Basses I've heard tons of good things about them and they are inexpensive. as for gear Digitech BNX3000 that can be played through a P.A. system and has all sorts of models I have a GNX 4 that I use if I don't feel like lugging around my half stack. Daddys.com have them for like 250.00 or less and they ship.

a friend of mine has a douglas 6 string bass from rondo music that he got for like 200 bucks. its slightly off-balance but otherwise perfect (in the eyes of a guitarist, at least).
I would go for one of those. as for an amp, i recommend finding a couple you like at a guitar store, then reading up on them for pros and cons. thats how i get guitar amps
