30" scale 7 string?

long story short...is it worth it?

I wanted to hand build my own 7 this summer, and was contemplating on making the neck that long. my reasoning was that i can tune to various tunings, depending on the gauge strings that i put on it.

would it be a good or bad idea? id like opinion. thanks

Very good in my opinion. If I were to go as low as E or something and wanted some upper registry, I personally would not use the high string that 8s have so a 30 scale 7 would be perfect.

well Ibanez did have that 7 string 30" bass with string spacing simular to a guitar.

then you got some of the Agiles at 28/29"+ huf uses 27.5" mainly I think he has tried out the 30" before though. you'd have to ask him about that though.

I'd play one I have tryed 27" 8 strings and the scale felt better to me then a 25.5" scale. So it's up to you really.

also, I just did a custom qoute for Strictly 7 guitars. was a 8 string with a 30.2" scale. so there is another company that uses 30+ scales for guitars.

Also, the price was pretty decent for a custom with the specs I picked out.

When I had my 28.625" Agile, the tension on the high strings was very noticeable. I had a high E, and could only use a 9. Keep that in consideration.

not talking about the SC-608 are you cuz I'm pretty sure that is a 27"

you didnt know that about the sc? it looks bigger cuz of the 8 in line headstock i think
